More To Mica - Life & Fashion Theme Update

Every woman has her beauty that she can further enhance with skincare & makeup, it's a woman's secret. There's a ton of beauty brands for us to try and to find which products work best for our skin type but there aren't as many online makeup stores for us to shop at here in the Philippines. One of which is BeautyMNL.com, a go-to beauty destination, with over 300+ brands, for all things beauty.



For someone like me who's work is home-based I don't get to go out as often. Browsing online had actually become a hobby. I'm greatly thankful for websites like BeautyMNL to keep me stocked with my beauty supplies without having to go to the mall.



After months of just browsing through their page (hoping I could one day make a purchase) I finally got the chance to try shopping at BeautyMNL. I've always wanted to shop at BeautyMNL but I was loaded with chores & pending posts so I didn't had the chance. Good thing I was contacted by Erika to try out and test the site. Now I have my reason to check it out. Lol.

Personally, I like the look of the site. It's pretty straight-forward and easy to browse through. Plus they have this similar feature where you can read feedback and review from other buyers who have tried specific product you are looking to buy. I also like that they have a detailed description & how to use on the product page. All the details - product description, how-to, brand description, reviews etc., are all in one page (same with mobile) which is really nice. Sorry I'm a web & graphic designer so... I talk about the technicals.

Shipping

About shipping. They guarantee next day shipping with Metro Manila addresses. I can't assure that since I had my package sent to Laguna. So it took a while but they mentioned it would take 5 to 7 working days for the rest of the Philippines. Ugh, the downside of not living in Metro Manila... Oh well. Hahaha.

Here's how it went. I placed my order early morning of January 11. Two days later January 13, I got an email saying my package is with the courier and is en route to the given address. My package arrived six days after order was placed. That's fine since they didn't make me wait longer than 7 days but I was 'atat' and wanted to get my goodies sooner. Haha. Also, the delivery guy called me, he was in our village already but he needed help with finding our house.

Okay so I’ve opened the parcel and hanged the clothes for aesthetic purposes. These are now the actual items. I wasn’t able to hang one more top coz’ I ran out of wooden hangers. I wonder where those hangers went.



I wore the Gray V Neck Relax top instead. I bought the same top but in blue color. This top is big (haha) but checking from the photos from Little Emily Shop it’s actually really loose. I am impressed by the quality of the items I bought from Little Emily Shop for a very affordable price.



I specially liked this skirt & top set! I thought the skirt was too small for me initially but it fit me well when I tried it on.



This plaid dress too! So nice!! I’m really happy with my loot from Little Emily Shop. For an affordable price I got nice looking pieces.

Hey! I got to try the Color in Liquid Lips from my previous Etude House Haul (check out the post by clicking this link). Etude House’s new line of lippies was released this year for spring and summer. I first heard about the product through the newsletter sent by etude house, it was probably late December or early January. I don’t quite remember when exactly and I’ve accidentally trashed Etude’s email (boohoo). It was around February to March when other bloggers started to blog about the product. Now, it’s my turn to share my thoughts.



First.. What is Color in Liquid Lips?
Color in Liquid Lips fills the lips with a light and smooth texture for vivid color and a transparent shine. Color in Liquid Lips is a melted liquefied lipstick with intense color and high shine that gives off a provocative yet lovely sheer lips. Its cushiony water-sliding texture helps make lips look supple and hydrated.

What it claims to do?

• Lovely splashing color: Vivid colors like melted liquefied lipsticks make delicate and supple lips. (Exclusive "One-Touch-Color" technology is applied to express vivid color with one touch)
• See-through glossy lips: Smooth water-sliding texture cares lips lightweight, glossy, and non sticky. (Water-Sliding: Light and non-sticky texture for cushiony and sleek application)
• Long-lasting hydrated lips: It contains Sweet almond oil and sunflower seed oil to coat lips comfortably and smoothly long time without getting dry.

I bought two out of the twenty other Color in Liquid Lips line. This one is #OR202 Peach In Dream.




The lipstick comes in a tear drop shaped applicator with a hole in it.



This shade did give a peachy color to my lips. I did like the texture when I applied the lipstick, it wasn’t sticky as usual lipsticks. I think this orangey shade is new to me so I was a bit shocked by its color on my face. I was able to work with it by letting the product set and slightly tapping my lips with a tissue paper to reduce the color.



The other shade I bought is #BE102 Beige in Chic.




I also liked the color even though I haven’t applied it on my lips.



And loved it moree when applied. I’m not sure but I think this color suits me better than the shade earlier. This one is a lot more vibrant and compared to the other one, it’s less drying and it’s easier to spread the color evenly on the lips.



Overall, the Color in Liquid Lipsticks did give lovely splashing colors. These lipsticks are really pigmented. It gives of just a right amount of gloss but slightly mattefies after a few hours. It’s nice that the lipstick is lightweight and I didn’t feel much stickiness. It didn’t dry up my lips but my lips were already a bit dry from late nights and lack of water so I assume that the product is best applied after a lipbalm or when the lips aren’t chapped and dry.



The Color in Liquid Lips tend to get lost upon grabbing a meal and drinking so we’ll need to re-apply like how lipsticks usually are. I’m fine with that but I’m usually lazy with retouching my make-up.

I’ve used both lipstick shades for about 2-3 times and I did like it. Will I buy again? I would say yes and I’ll probably try other shades but I’m shifting to lip stains instead of lipsticks since I find lip stains to last longer than lipsticks. I’ve read a blog that Color in Liquid Lips is also a lip stain, not sure if it is a lipstick or a lip stain. Please enlighten me.

My mom taught me to never shave any of my bodily hairs for it’ll darken the skin. I don’t pluck as well for this will cause chicken skin. But I had come to the stage of puberty. Unlike others who is lucky enough to have less to zero armpit hair (men included), I on the other hand have been blessed with hair. Lol.

There was no stopping these pesky armpit hair. I don’t shave or pluck so I had no choice but to have my armpit hair removed by professionals. My first ever waxing was done here at Lynderm Facial Center & Day Spa near us. I’ve read from different forums that waxing is painful. But when I had my first underarm waxing, aside from the heat it didn’t hurt as much. Maybe because I’ve got a certain tolerance when it comes to pain (even if people who know me see me as someone weak). Yes! I have a high tolerance of pain!! From then on I had my underarm hair removed by spas/salons. This lasted for about 4-5 times. I googled and did my research on how I can remove my own underarm hair and after reading several other blogs I bought my first jar of sugar wax. From then on I never came back to a spa/salon and removed my own armpit hair. I’ve tried several kinds and brands of sugar wax and even strips. Some performed but some was just a disappointment.

I’ve been loyal to a sugar wax until it started to perform less than usual. I was even rooting and recommending the product to others but there’s a lot of armpit hair that isn’t removed by the wax anymore. I’ve probably become immune with the sugar wax or my underarm hair has gotten tougher (lol, what? I hope not).



I decided to try and give chance to other brands of waxing. I made a trip to Watson’s and took out this pretty and cute box from Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Sticks & Pulls Honey Wax All Natural Hair Remover.

Here’s the back of the box with instructions and other info about Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Sticks & Pulls Honey Wax All Natural Hair Remover.

HOW TO USE:

1. Simply remove cap and heat the jar of wax in a microwave oven (in medium heat) for 10-15 seconds, just enough to soften the mixture. Stir the mixture and let it rest until its temperature is cool enough to apply on skin.
2. Prep your skin by washing the area with soap and water to remove unwanted residue. Dash a little powder on the area to be waxed to keep it dry.
3. Using the wooden applicator, apply a thin layer of the wax in the direction of hair growth. In the same direction, place the strip of cloth on top and even out air bubbles.
4. SWIFTLY pull the end of cloth towards the opposite direction - against hair growth. Repeat as needed.
5. Reddening of the skin after waxing is normal. Wax residue on skin can easily be removed with a damp cloth. Allow pores to close by letting skin rest for at least 30 minutes before completely washing the waxed area.
A SWEET REMINDER: do not use broken and irritated skin.
A few personal tips. Instead of using a damp cloth, apply baby oil (other types of oil will work as well) over a towel/tissue to wipe of sticky residue.




Contents of package: 50 grams of natural honey wax, 3 reusable and washable cloth strips and 2 popsicle sticks/wooden applicators.

I’ve used the wax twice and here’s my first impression:

PROS:

• Easy peasy application
• Effective in removing underarm hair
• Experienced no pain
• Sticky residue gets wiped of easily with baby oil

CONS:

Strip of cloth tends to run. Threads are falling off.

So after a few months of seeing Etude House campaigns with Park Shin Hye (Color in Liquid Lips)... I decided to get the Enamelting Gel Nails and the Color in Liquid Lips.

So funny of me to leave my Smart Money card where I loaded up funds to buy the products, I was just able to buy three polishes I think, whatever my cash can afford...Oh My! Luckily my mom was out as well to buy the others. Love you Mom! :D

Anyway, now I have a lifetime supply of gel nails.
